The Great Horned Owl is one of the most common birds of prey in North America and here in Massachusetts. This owl is nocturnal, meaning it is awake and does most of its hunting at night. Instead of building its own nest, the Great Horned Owl will occupy abandoned nests from other bird species or make nests in hollow trees.
Great Horned Owls eat just about anything they can get their talons on. Some of their diet includes raccoons, scorpions, mice, and frogs.
