Did you know . . .
- This species of whale is best known for its tusk—a long, spiraled tooth. The tusk can grow to 9 feet (3 meters) long and weigh more than 22 pounds (10 kilograms).
- Narwhals can dive about a mile deep in the ocean. Cracks in the sea ice above allow them to pop up for air when they need it.
